| An infusion of comfrey and the sweet scent of limes make
this a special cream. Both the leaves and roots of comfrey contain
allantoin, a protein which promotes cell renewal. Before starting, amke
the comfrey infusion. Place the dried leaves in a small basin, stir in the
boiling water then cover with a porous paper towel. Leave them for two or
three hours then strain through doubled muslin or two paper towels. Add
the borax to the water then follow procedures. |
|
| Place Broken pieces of solid ingredients in separate
jars and heat them in a pan of water, simmering until they have melted.
Measure the melted ingredients into a heat resistant basin over a pan of
simmering water. Measure and stir in the oils, but not the perfumed
essential oil. Pour the water (orange water etc.) into a heat resistant
container. Add the borax and heat gently until it dissolves. Rmove the
basin (melted wax and oils) from the pan and add the borax water. Mix
thoroughly . Place the basin in a shallow dish of cold water and continue
beating. Add the essential oil and beat until the mixture cools and
thickens. Transfer the cream into screw top jars. |
